Eugeneās biggest weakness in this production will be that heās performing with two of his best friends whose very existence make him laugh. šā¤
Ah yes his one weakness, the giggles š
I am so excited for how much laughing between the guys there will definitely be during the performance!!
Letās not forget some love for the teacher! She was so great and willing to have fun and be silly!
She was AMAZING! Loved her!
she was great and you can tell she has a lot of passion for the subject!
Sheās definitely an expert in Shakespeare very knowledgeable, took this seriously whilst having fun with them š
SHE WAS AMAZING and really fun and chill!!
@@123kgo I really like her too. She was great.
Eugene holding a skull is more Eugene than I expected
ikr š
There needs to be more videos of Eugene with skulls
Nah tbh it tracks š
He is Slytherin.
If there is one thing I learnt today, it is Try guys performing Shakespeare in contemporary language is pure comedy
Original Shakespeare is pretty comedic too lol.. Translating it just makes it obvious. š ā¤š
I'm pretty sure that anything Keith does will come across as comedy. It's his natural, go-to!
yasss
Yep, we think of Shakespeare as such high art, but all of his shows were played for common audiences.
@@nancythomas5387 Also, his part is just inherently comedic/sad. The character he plays is the "classic fat ugly chick nobody is attracted to" in the play. The "comedy" is that with all these magic spells flying around, hitting the wrong people at the wrong time, it's gotten to the point that everyone's love interest and spouse is now in love with this poor girl who is used to being ignored or bullied for her appearance, just to suddenly find these athletes and magical hotties all want her sexy lumps for no reason. She's convinced that they're bullying her in some weird way. š„ŗšš
So she yells at them for doing it.
Like I said: it's sad and funny. š¤£š
Keith honestly played that soliloquy to perfection. Zach did great at his, too! I love Much Ado About Nothing!
in a really weird way i think that zachs whole personality and affectation actually really really works perfectly with shakespeares writing like i think the silly sarcastic tone he always do really fits with the dirty playful smart alecy language and meanung behind most of shakespeares work, way more than the british soft monologue we see so often, i think shakespeare is best when it is spoken as a real person and maybe an overexageration of a real person like zach does in these videos
Love this comment!
this is so real actually. he would make such a good dromio or bottom
and lucky for him Shakespares works are filled with jesters and jokers so he's basically got a confirmed role in nearly every play already booked!
Shakespeare that isn't performed by upper class Brits just hits different! I highly recommend you look up Jake Phillips' southern Marc Anthony monologue from Julius Caesar, it's amazing.
ā@@SoupEaterExtraordinaireyes have the same thoughts about a film version of MacBeth by an Australian cast
I love how everyone is captivated by eugene performing his monologe
Yes!!
āhello anxiety, your along for the ride but youāre not driving.ā Leelee, such a great line.
To be fair I am paraphrasing Elizabeth Gilbert!! But yes I carry it with me always. Thank you.
How is it that this video explained shakespeare better than my teachers ever did?
I was lucky enough to get 'Playing Shakespeare' on DVD while I was studying Shakespeare at university. Well, it was just after I'd done the subject, I think, but it was really interesting and useful. More for acting, but it all came together with what I'd learned at uni. I highly recommend it, if you're able to find it! There were 9 episodes, and it was done by the RSC.
I legit feel let down by our educational system š¤£
100% To be fair to a lot of teachers they probably werenāt allowed to tell us how dirty the plays really were. If they had they probably wouldāve been banned.
@deannascorner8112 oh absolutely! Lol
I didn't like Shakespeare until I had an English teacher who was really into theater so her solution was to spend an entire semester getting each of her 4 classes to produce and act in 4 different plays and then perform them for the school at the end of the year. She simplified some of the language and shortened the plays a bit so 13-year-olds could handle it, but we still had to memorize a good chunk of classic Shakespeare. It made the material a lot more accessible to all of us. I still struggle to understand the slang but I know that my ability to enjoy it can 100% be credited to her.
As a Shakespeare nerd and sometimes Shakespeare actor I have to say that the monologue choices for the boys were perfect! Shoutout to whoever picked those! The teacher was also spectacular, she explained Shakespeare to newbies exactly how it should be explained! Bravo!
Yes, I loved Zach getting Benedict! The choices were great for the guys
@@makenziegleason5737 it's Benedick, but I agree: that soliloquy was perfect for Zach!
@@SakuraMoonflower thanks! I was in Much ado, but couldn't remember if it was spelled like it's pronounced š
MATPAT AND SAM REICH YOU GUYS ARE KILLING IT
I saw Ryan and Shane and I was immediately so excited, Safiya too!
I know my jaw dropped at all of them
@@hnichole Right??? p.s Ryan & Shane are going on tour as well
Eugene is so great it's scary. The dude's a natural. But, I doubt he'll be able to keep a straight face around Keith and Zach.
And that's why he was one of the man VAs in Nimona!
I havenāt watched Try Guys in the longest time; Iād forgotten how goofy they are and how well they play off each other.
This was my first video back in a long while as well! ⤠forgot how great they are
Same here. Too many videos about food or drugs for my taste, but sometimes you come across gems like this š
Welcome back my friends ā¤
Zach's inflection is perfect, even if you don't understand the language you can figure it out from the tone and body language cues he gives
Rhett, link and safiya being special guests is the cherry on top of the cake! How exciting
Eugene: To perform a Shakespeare play, one must understand the verse, history and intentions of his writings
Immediately cuts to Zach not doing that
The WAR edits are leaking into other Try guys content, I see
Keithās training always shines through. Even when he gets nervous and starts to goof off a bit, there is an authenticity that comes though. And it is so compelling to watch!
Who got chills from Eugene's monolog??? This is his wheelhouse ššššš
I would if I could understand 95% of the content š
Why does Eugene holding a scull just feel right, it feels like a cannon event that was always supposed to happen. š
Eugene should be holding a skull at all times.
Eugene and Keith passionately acting alone would probably be enough for a show.
Try Guys, Rhett and Link, Watcher, Rosanna AND Safiya!? This is going to be incredible, I can't wait! What a cast! š
I wasnāt considering buying a ticket but Iām on the verge wanting to after seeing the guest line up š
P.S Ryan & Shane are going on tour too
Shayne and Courtney from Smosh and Sam Reich from dropout!!
As someone that works at a theatre and has seen King Lear 30+ times this year. This was amazing
Do tell!
The Try Guys in their post-breakup-bangs era is my favorite.
This is the best analogy of this era Iāve ever seen šš©µ
Dead on š¤£š
This Shakespeare coach made me understand more Shakespeare than years of English classes in high school š
I truly hope this is ridiculously popular and they do more plays and this becomes either an annual or even bi-annual thing.
Each guy getting to pick their favorite plays, fan voted, etc.
Honestly, Zach played his role great...š better than what his anxiety thinks. Keith's pretty good too. I almost teared up.
Zackās Benedick was absolutely BRILLIANT. The well, well, well was so in character, the fourth wall break amazing. Eugene was as incredible as we expected. And the absolute energy and whining of Keith was so fitting. God, they are magnificent.ā¤
Shout out to the coach. So many teachers accidentally kill the joy of Shakespeare because they forget to imbue it with the humour and bawdiness it was written with- this lady GETS IT and her passion and excitement for the material help make it accessible. The guys did really well considering how little time they had to work on their roles, there's real potential there and I'm excited for the livestream.
You can tell that Eugene is in his natural habitat while Keith and Zach struggles a lot with their lines.
Eugene has some experience as an actor, he was a Brooklyn 99 espiode. He had a scene with Jake and Gina.
He also voiceacted a character for a whole movie and has been acting quite a bit beyond that
@@GrayShadowOfNight He voiced Ambrosius Goldenloin in Nimona and Toul in StarWarsVisions Vol 2.
Zack doing Benedick's sililoquoy was such a good choice. Shout out to whoever picked their monologues :')
I like that she rewrote the scenes in contemporary language for them. So many people get thrown off by the Shakespearean language that they miss out on the really good stories. The iambic pentameter is beautiful, but it loses everything if people don't understand the plot and characters.
imagine your job is a regular job but also sometimes watching these 3 do shakespeare⦠wow
āBut love may transform me into an oyster. But Iāll take an oath on it.ā Zach had me rolling š¤£š¤£š¤£
Keith and Zach just lost in Eugene reading a monologue has me crying šš
As a Shakespeare nerd, the fact that Keith has played Sir Andrew Aguecheek in Twelfth Night before doesnāt surprise me.
I'm hoping they'll keep doing Shakespeare plays like they did with Romeo and Juliet, I want to know if when they get to Twelfth Night Keith would revisit the role of Sir Andrew or would give one of the other guys advice on how to play him
This was a great one. I love when Keith plays a woman, always can make me laugh and does a damn good job. Zach is just a nerd and I live for it!! Eugene, heās amazing. At the ending when they all tried out the character they were performing with their crew, made me tear up. Heās VERY talented. I LOVE THE TRY GUYS!!!
Always looking for more of shows!
When Eugene is in acting mode, you can tell he takes it seriously whilst his two besties arenāt taking this seriously⦠Zach & Keith tried to break him with their shenanigans š
I hope "Kardashian-speak" is an option for the live show! 𤣠So funny!
I wish my English teacher had given a quick explanation of how the character were feeling like your acting coach did. You guys did awesome!
I really hope this event will be available as a video on demand for at least a few days afterwards. I don't think I'll be able to watch this live without missing some crucial parts
It's available on demand to the end of September
I hope so cause I donāt mind paying money but Iām sure a lot of us have money for other things
shane and ryan being special guests makes so much sense and yet i was Not expecting it. so excited!
The best interpretation of Shakespeare I've seen was some Aussie teenage boys at the back of the class having to do an improvised scene from Hamlet in drama. The awkwardness and constant search for dick jokes really, really worked.
Also shout out to the captioners on this one.
Eugene is such a good actor but Zach and Keith are going to make him break so hardšš
I love seeing them together like this
I AM GOING TO BUY A TICKET! I AM CHEAP AND STINGY BUT GOD DAMN ZACH KEITH EUGENE FANTASTIC JOB
Me too, i got one last night. The broke my resolution to save money lmao
I remember this all just being an idea that they casually mentioned a few times! And NOW it is really happening! So happy for the boys!
I could watch Eugene perform Shakespeare for hours!
When they mentioned special guests, I knew Safiya would be part of the team š
And Ryan and Shaneš
Wasnt expecting Manny :D
Each of these guys truly brought it in equally amazing yet COMPLETELY different ways. Exactly what makes the Try Guys amazing. ššš
Zach plays SUCH a good Benedick!! He killed that monologue omg
Yoooo, this was so good! I'm so proud of them! They all did their monologues in a really THEM kind of way! Like, they really brought them SELVES to it and made it their own! Props to the Shakespeare coach, she's got a fun job, I bet!
The tradition of Eugene being good at everything he tries has not changed and I am living for it ā¤
Rainie with the glass of wine in the audience is a whole mood
Oooh!!! Eugene is made for Shakespeare!! Watching him as Mercutio is gonna be BANGING!!
Euguene ending the monologue by saying heās playing āthe nurseāis how I felt when I wasnāt cast a lead role lol
Another thing: how Eugene is SO good in everything? Iām soooooo jealous of his talent. I wish I had a 1/10 of his talent
Eugeneās voice acting work is showing in how natural his pace is. Keith is getting the emotion. But gotta commend Zach for giving it a solid try. Iām also like him and donāt get Shakespeare.
After these Shakespeare videos from the guys, Much Ado About Nothing (David Tennant & Catherine Tate) clips started popping up in my recommendations and I ended up watching and falling in love with the production. I'm now on a first time deep dive of Shakespeare and am strangely extremely excited to unravel more of the language used in his other plays āŗļøāŗļø many thank yous for all the people you probably very much inspired to pick up Shakespeare or fall back in love with it again
I really love having the boys all together
This video really highlights the difference in strengths among the three.
Keith is a performer at heart. He works best on stage, interacting with partners and audience. Zach is stronger behind the scenes, but he's a personality on stage. His acting is just himself, he doesn't put on a character. He's self-conscious, but wants to put on the best show possible bc he's a filmmaker, he has an outcome to achieve. Eugene is a chameleon, he's an artist, he does both bc hes passionate about the entire process. I think Eugene also gets self-conscious, but hes good at masking through it.
I love seeing these guys grow! Can't wait for the show!
Eugene: To perform a Shakespeare play, one must understand the verse, history and intentions of his writings
Immediately cuts to Zach not doing that.
Stolen comment
Seeing them having SO much fun is so wholesome.
Eugene's timing in his monologue was insanely good, okay netflix star!!!!
"Pointless boner" (5:02)š¤£š. Loved Lenora explaining the scene (9:13 to 10:07) that's a great insult once you understand it. Zach humping (11:12) at Keithš¤£š
I'd happily sit in on a 3h lecture about Shakespeare from the teacher, she explains it in such a fun way
Whatās very special to me is that you guys are doing the live action on my birthday day and seeing that makes me very happy. Canāt wait to see the live action.
I love when they are monologuing, the other two are watching with big ol smiles. Their support for each other is just so happy.
Zach matched his piece so well! š
She's actually an amazing teacher!
As someone who spent two entire FORMATIVE years in a young actors' Shakespeare troupe, this has made my life, thank you.
The live show is so innovative. I love these boys.
This has actually made me want to see them do Romeo and Juliet. That Shakespeare coach is fabulous!
Wow, as a Shakespeare enthusiast I love this. And Eugene was amazing and I feel like he would do great in theater acting. It may have been a short monologue but you could feel the emotion.
My lit degree just ate this up š„° Iām not a Romeo and Juliet fan, but Iāve already bought tickets. Very excited.
This whole project just makes me want to reread MacBeth and Othello š
One of my favorite PBS series is Shakespeare Uncovered. Different actors delve into the different plays and break down what the play is, the history of the play, and how it relates to contemporary life. I absolutely suggest yāall watch it!
Joseph Fiennes hosts the Romeo & Juliet episode. :)
I just spend 6 weeks doing a Shakespeare intensive and am a major Shakespeare nerd. Iām really looking forward to seeing what the guys manage to do with Romeo and Juliet because I know itās going to be wacky but Iām not sure how
Keith, the broadway actor, shining as usual on the stage. Got Helena's humor and timing spot on
Can we please talk about how good Keithās monologue was?! He did such a good job! So funny :)
Edmund's soliloquy is pretty much my FAVOURITE in all Shakespeare (I have written it in many sketchbooks)
Eugene your performance gave me GOOSEBUMPS! AH!!!ā¤ļøāš„BASTARDY BASE BAAAAAAASE!!!!!
the features???? how the hell did they get such a good teacher AND all of these amazing creators.... i was already excited but now i absolutely cannot wait
Each guy brought each of their scenes to life in their own way, and that is impressive.
I've been getting back into Shakespeare lately and I'm kind of blown away by how well those monologues were done??? Between this and Abigail Thorne's play I'm starting to think youtubers are like, the perfect fit for 2020s Shakespeare adaptation.
Now I want to check out that teacher's stuff too, she was amazing!
Havenāt even watched it but so excited Eugene is back!
SAME
I am shocked that this is Eugene's first performance regarding Shakespeare. I would have assumed he had major Shakespeare actor cred. I have already purchased my ticket. I have never giggled during Romeo and Juliet before so I am looking forward to this unique experience. Spoiler, when I saw this play performed during a school trip, I almost cried. I had to bite the inside of my mouth to hold it together. Middle school was a nightmare, so giving classmates an actual reason to tease me was not in my mission statement.
Am I about to buy a ticket because Keith just performed my favorite prose (literally part of Helenaās speech is tattooed on my body) well? Yes, yes I am!
Keith really looks like he belongs to the Shakespearean era!
This is genius! It is clear that all of these men are passionately interested in theater and show. So, them disecting this and experiencing the deepest and most fundamental parts of this trade.. in this way for their audience to experience. FINALLY! I LOVE it! Show us moreā¤
To the surprise of absolutely no one, Eugene is amazing. I can't wait to see it on the 10th.
I love the theatre, especially Shakespeare, and I've been a fan of the Try Guys for years so I would really, really love to watch this performance but due to the time difference where I live and work commitments, I can't. But it is a truly unique idea, and if this video is anything to go by, the three of you will be absolutely amazing. Congratulations on bringing such an ambitious project to life.
They said in the beginning if you get a ticket you can rewatch it up to a few days after just letting you know so if you really want to you can still get a ticket š
I am SO happy to see Eugene! I miss him SO much!!! ššš
Just hearing Rachel start laughing at 5:57 made me laugh along lol I love it
Iāve never bought tickets to a live stream before, however Iām very excited for this one.
Honestly, Zach playing DIRECTLY to the audience was much of what Shakespeare did with his clown characters and I think old Willy would have LOVED it! He got his audience to laugh and that was his goal. š„³
Loved this, glad that even if we can't afford to watch the live show we can see them getting into practice for it
Eugene as Edmond gave me chills, his acting is amazing. He was right on the money with the emotion and tone.
Please tell me you guys will be doing Midsummer Night's Dream in October, and then another Shakespeare play every two months - you guys give me a taste and I want so much more!
Keith was amazing as Helena I love how he portrayed her he made it so fun! If future actors that play Helena donāt portray her like keith I donāt want themš
So few of their teachers are as kind and flexible with their silliest ⤠I loved this one
I love this teacher she's so good at explaining things but she is also so fun to watch love her
So happy you're all getting to speak and perform some Shakespeare!!! I acted in Shakespeare plays all through middle and high school. Both hearing the words (they actually used to call it "hearing" plays rather than "seeing" in his time) and getting to speak them yourself does wonders for appreciating it and navigating it. I am STOKED for your performance!
I did Shakespeare plays all four years at high school. This video reminded me of those times and how much fun they were. Also, I'm 100% with Eugene about loving language and munching on words. That was always one of the things I loved about Shakespeare š
zach captured benedickās chaotic energy so well
